10 THINGS YOU (PROBABLY) DON'T KNOW ABOUT ME || TAG

Hello, world!

While looking for inspiration, I stumbled upon Mandy Leigh's list of "50 Blog Posts Ideas." Blog-writer's block is a real thing and I'm definitely feeling it.

So, I looked at this list of 50 ideas and the one that stuck out most was to write about 10 things your readers don't know about you. (P.S. — Mandy, if you read this, thank you for that post! You're great!)

I love reading about other people's quirks and other things that the world may not know. Part of the challenge is also to tag other bloggers to write the same post! So, without further adieu, here are 10 things you may (or may not) know about me.

My hair isn't this color anymore. Don't be deceived.

1. I've been to Disneyland 17 times. When I was younger, my family and I would go every year — sometimes more than once. Some of my earliest memories are from my times in the Happiest Place on Earth. When I was in second grade, my parents and some family friends told me, Kevin and Stacey (who were 8 and 6, I think? Mom, correct me if I'm wrong) that we were all going to our grandparents' houses. The night before we were supposed to leave, our parents set up a scavenger hunt and we scrambled around the house before we put together the clues that we were actually going to Disneyland and not to visit our grandparents. We left that night for Disneyland. For a 7-year-old, that was pretty much the most exciting thing that could have happened.

2. When I was little, I wanted to deliver babies. Then I got older and learned where babies came from. Needless to say, that goal was short lived.

3. I'm terrified of balloons. I have no idea where it came from, but I've never liked them. Only the latex ones, though — the foil balloons are okay. I get anxiety whenever I'm in close quarters with a balloon.

4. I was in acting/modeling school when I was young. I'm talking like first or second grade. I have a very vivid memory of being late to take my headshots because I left the vest my mom wanted me to wear in my classroom. I auditioned a few times for commercials — one was for some food product and my "dad" and I had to mimic my "mom's" movements during a dinner scene, and when she picked up on it she said she had to go do the dishes in an effort to get me and my "dad" to clean up with her. We couldn't fool her.

5. I'm terrible with movies. By this, I mean there are wayyyy too many "classic" movies that I should have seen by now but haven't. For example, I didn't see a single Star Wars movie until I was 19. Also, when I watch movies at home, I get too impatient and google the plot because I want to know what happens. Sorry 'bout it.

My gold medal fight!
6. I was once a national gold medalist in Tae Kwon Do. I was 9, and I won the national sparring competition for girls my age, weight group and belt level. I also won a silver medal in poomse. The next day, we got to go to Disneyland.

7. For the longest time, I hated my name. There was nothing I loathed more than "Alexandra." It's too girly, I thought. Now, I kind of like it. I mean, I even used it in my blog name.

8. The first album I was ever obsessed with was American Idiot by Green Day. I picked it up when I was only 10 years old, and I would listen to the entire album over and over and over again. My first celebrity crush was Billie Joe Armstrong. (Still crushing.)

9. I have a best friend that lives more than 2000 miles away and we've stayed best friends for more than seven years this way. I met him when I was only 12 years old on the first day of 8th grade. It's kind of annoying how cute we are. We like, send care packages and stuff to each other. I've never been more in-tune with anyone than I am with him.

10. I've broken my bones more than a dozen times. It all started with my elbow when I fell off the monkey bars in elementary school. Then, when I was in sixth grade I had a nasty case of pneumonia that prompted months of steroids, which caused me to grow very quickly — in the two years after that, I broke my feet like five times. When I went to a podiatrist, he said he could tell by feeling my feet that I'd broken at least half of my toes at some point within the past year (which I never knew about). My most recent break was my knuckle when I was 17. It's been almost four years since a break. Knock on wood.

That's it! Some of them are cop-outs, but hopefully you were amused for at least one minute reading this post. So, for this, I tag my sister Coralie over at Orally Coralie (loool), Carmen at The Simple Sloth, Kari at The Real World and anyone else who reads this post who feels inspired to write ten things the world doesn't know about them. I need more blogger friends!

Enjoy your weekend! (Or whatever day it is when you read this!)
